Daily sketch series

Well over on facebook, I've started a daily sketch series earlier this month, where I plan to draw a sketch of a character every day & include a quote they say or will say from the comic series. Here are a few that I've posted on facebook so far. There are def more to come! P.S. Its been really hard to draw these with the beastly hot weather we've had in Milwaukee.

The one thing that I didn't do on facebook was give any commentary about the sketches, & on this blog that is something I will be doing, b/c its nice to review the sketches after I've had some time to sit & look at them.

The 1st sketch I made was the 'Tim' sketch. I wanted to draw Tim's sketch 1st b/c not only did my best friend whom the sketch is based off of get married, I am a huge fan of Tim's character. He is one of my favorites in the comic series. It is a sketch I'm very happy with. That sketch basically sums up who Tim is as a character, but def. not who 'Tim' is as a person, meaning the real Tim. The funny thing about Tim's character is he's based on an extremely small part of the real Tim's personality.

All the sketches were created in B&W, but I decided to photoshop them & add some color to help capture the mood of the drawing & text. Honestly I'm also pleased with Dave's sketch & Pete's, which our the 2nd & 3rd sketch in the series. Dave is the vocal leader of the group & Pete is the resident air head, but Pete does have a huge brain, which he gets to flex in issue #3. Upon finishing those sketches, I knew this would be a very funny project to complete.

My favorite out of this batch is the Tim sketch.

Welcome back me!

I've been away for a bit, I got so burned out after finishing issue 2, I decided to take a break from everything pretty much. But now that I'm done with the break, its time to get back to business & I'll be in full swing again with this Grade 5 thing. And to start this beast off, here is the 1st page of issue 3, boi!

Tim & Steve do something they really should not have done! Hint: it has to with the cell phone Steve is holding & his black eye. I got some crazy cool things planned for this issue. I'm talking combine, 'Peanuts, Always Sunny in Philly, & Recess.' And you're about to witness a damn good comic! BEHAVE LIKE A KID!

Digital version lulu.com right now!

It's about time, but the digital version is finally up & running. Hopefully some time in June, the hard copy of issue 2 will be ready also. It took a lot of exhausting work to get to this point, but I'm still not done. Break for the month of June, & in July its on to the next one, the next book that is.

I can say that I am extremely proud of this comic, the series has grown & developed more than I'd hoped since issue 1, & that gives me so much to be excited about going forward!

WELL ITS CONFIRMED

VIA CBS NEWS: (CBS News)
The founder and spiritual figurehead for al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, is dead.
Several officials confirmed the report to CBS News, and say that his body is currently in U.S. hands.
CBS News correspondent David Martin reports that bin Laden was killed by forces in Afghanistan.
The long-lost terrorist mastermind had eluded an aggressive hunt by U.S. authorities for nearly ten years since the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. on Sept. 11, 2001.

I just wanted to post this, so I could know exactly where I was at this moment. This is a tremendous moment, a shot heard round the world.

GO HEAT!

First of all let me say, that I am not a band wagon Miami Heat fan, I've been a fan ever since Wade was drafted.  I must say, Game 1 baby! The Heat dominated the whole game, shooting outside the arc, playing stellar D, making smart passes, well except for the excessive turn overs. But other than that it was pretty exciting. Game 1 down, got to sneak in a non-Grade 5 related post some times.

Being stupid with friends...

Is one of the most fun things you can do, so I made this little gem up. Thanks for the quote Ralph Emerson. Some of the best moments of my life are the random adventures & dumb moments I have with those guys. Cuz hey, best friends are family that you can choose!

I forgo how to count

I am currently drawing page 20, but what sucks about that is I thought I was two pages away from being finished. But wait-- reality check, I'm 3 pages away from being done, which kind of sucks for the moral. One page isn't a big deal, but when you're tired, & at the point where you just want to be done, adding an extra page doesn't help.

So here's lettered version of pages 14 & 15. The image on panel 4 happens to be one of my favorite groups shots of the 5 main characters. Hopefully that will cheer me up, once again, oops! I guess I never learned how to count in school! Maybe I should go back to 5th grade.
